Andries at Musica instruments Pretoria builds them like that, to all kinds of specs, ive played on a few, super strat's tele's etc. They look, feel and sound awesome! This might even be his ad, I don't know. You should go see him, he's always there and he always has loads of his guits lying around.

I have e-mailed the guy that posted the add. He said he is setting up a website too. Death machine guitars is what it will be called.

I've done quite a bit of it. Lots of fun and experience gained doing it but more expensive than buying a decent entry level guitar and no guarantees of a good instrument. So it's not really worth it unless you are pulling out all the stops and using top quality components from top to bottom.
Consider that with entry-level parts like these and comparable hardware, you are still going to end up shelling out at least R3,000+ for a Strat-type guitar. For that price, you are into Squier territory (which are conveniently already finished and assembled, have a known name on the headstock plus you get the chance to try before you buy).

You can always go to Andries and try his guitars?

I was looking at importing one of these last year, then alan gave the same advise as above which made alot of sense, I landed up getting a squier affinity for R700 and did a rebuild on that.
Although I would like to still get one of these kits and am happy to see someone selling them locally now, I might still do it in time. Could be an awsome project.
One thing that scared me is reading reviews about guys who bought these kits and the pieces didnt fit together so lekker, but having a local distributer so if there is something wrong you can maybe take it back for a replacement.
I still like the idea though :?
