Any Stores that offer credit

Hi guys,

A friend told me about Musica Instruments in Pretoria which offers credit which is cool for people like me who lack the discipline to
save, obviously to a point, i dont want to pay double for the product in the end of course..

But do any other stores that people know do this?

Go on, make me happy..

Well you've hit the nail on the head. Credit costs money. The flip side of that coin is that cash is king.

You should be able to open up a separate savings account and then set up a stop order to move a certain amount into savings each month. That's the same immediate effect on your finances as a credit agreement however....

1) You are saving money and you are earning the interest (probably only a little, but it's better than paying)
2) When you have cash you can negotiate a discount
3) You don't get the goods now, you only get them later
4) Unless you NEED the goods now (3) may not be that much of a problem.
5) You should look at 2nd hand goods. You can usually get more bang per buck that way
6) But typically 2nd hand goods are paid for in cash

I hate to say this, but if you can't get approval for a credit card (or your card is already in the red) you should probably stay away from stores offering credit. Also, since the store is not a financial institution competing with others, they typically charge the highest interest rate allowed.

Stores themsevles are not offering credit , they will mediate a loan from a financial institutuin and you will pay interest. The store will get their cash on the spot. music equipment stores are not financial institutions and i think it would be against the law for them to offer you credit (on their own standing)

Some of the financially astute above have mentioned the benefits of cash though .....its always the preferred route as it gives you options and bargaining power... but it is tempting to buy that custom shop fender with all the bells on whistles on credit but its going to cost you a whole pile more.....

Dont do it..

Stay away from credit. If you cant afford it, dont get it, especially with 'luxury' toys like guitars.

You either do it or you don't really want that guitar/amp/effects pedal all that much. I have basically saved for just about everything I have .... and yep, it does take lotsa will-power, and discipline, (there is no short-cut), but the bottom line is: HOW BADLY DO YOU REALLY WANT IT??
