I assume you have this particular GAS after seeing Tom Howden play a bodhran at TJ's last night.

OK... Tom will be there next Thursday, so you can either come along (some guy named "Bob" is on the bill) and ask Tom or remind me and I'll ask him for you.

He may have bought it overseas. Did you see that "low D" whistle he has? I love those things - a lovely sound, an octave below the regular "d" whistle. You can't get those here.

Yip ..did speak to Tom as well... he apparently built that one himself ...nope did not see the whistle...

that drum piqued my interest a whole lot .....really keen to get one for some of the chilled songs we do where 2 guitars aint needed.....can jam nicely with it i reckon.

I've been a fan of the bodhran since Jethro Tull's Acres Wild (from Heavy Horses). Locally no-one has them that I know of, but you can inquire with the LP/CP distributors - I think they do a model. Otherwise Try Bert Koster percussion for the Toca stuff - they might have one in their range too.

OK, I'm impressed. Almost ordered one on Friday, but the store doesn't ship internationally any more.

And today I got a bee in my bonnet about getting a Roland TD-9 kit... so the bodhran may have to wait a bit. Stay tuned on that front...

was there on Friday afternoon... they have one or 2 but not tunalbel and expensive. What Tom has is specifically what i am GASSing fo...that is a superb and the real thing

There are Irish dance clubs around Johannesburg. They must know where you can get bodhrans.

Be warned - it's harder to play than it looks !!
