LOL, in Los Angeles most clubs have a two drink minimum!!! :goodtimes: Forget two drink maximum! They want your money and the waitresses want your tips. Drink up!!!
My pet peeve though...... most of the time in rock venues they serve the beer in plastic cups. I hate that! WTF is up with that.....they don't want the risk of someone tossing a bottle at the band if they suck? I'm sorry, but at around $6 for a beer......it really sucks to have to consume it along with the taste of plastic.
That's quite common these days. Some years ago I went to a ball game in Houston. You could buy a beer, indeed they had vendors in the stands so you wouldn't have to leave your seat to get a beer, but they would not give you the bottle. They poured it into a plastic cup.
I can think of lots of reasons - not just to not provide missiles. Less bottles rolling around on the ground for people to slip on. No chance that somebody can use a bottle to attack another patron. It's safer all around.
If it's draught beer they have to serve it in something. What would you provide if your were the owner - nice glasses or cheap plastic cups? With the cups it's easier to clean up, breakages cost you less and you have no washing up to do.
And these days they can make a little extra by selling you the cup. EG cricket matches at the Wanderers where they actually have had instances of bottles and cans thrown at players on the field.
I've been to club gigs in the UK where you can buy beer in glasses (or in bottles) but at festivals, where they are just using the premises for the weekend, they tend to serve everything in plastic or styrofoam cups.
These kinds of rules usually address issues caused by an irresponsibile minority. The responsible, reasonable majority have to suffer along with the yobs.
