keira - i think you reading way to much into what was started as a light hearted thread.
i dont think this thread was started with the intention of being a debate about whether we should or shouldn't have sentimental feelings or attachments to our kit.
if you dont - fine, then move along... nothing to see here.... BUt reading the way you talk about your guitars, I'd say you are more attaced to them then you realise. ?
that aside.
some people have HUGE sentimental value on some pieces of kit.
@ stepheG ...... please re read what i wrote it's not a debate or intended to start one but a personal statement to how i feel about my guitars .which i see a few have reflected they feel that way too ........ and the 2nd post is in responce to squonks question..
i just want to set the record straight before this turns into a debate.... ?... and let me make clear i'm not trying to convince people to my way of thinking at all
since i was not saying that other people should not be sentimental over their guitars , cos i know many people are in that school, and i don't question that at all.....and i understand it .... and i even wrote
so yes i think on this point everyone will have different opinions that suit their character
and re this being a light hearted thread....... oddly enough i saw this as an honest , thought provoking question ...much like the "desert island disc " one where people say if you could own one cd what would it be ......... it makes one think ...what if?
so i think this question is definitely more thought provoking than maybe intended, which i think is a good thing .....
hope that clears it up
