Whoo hoo! Novarock festival !!

This missus and I haven't been on holiday properly for years and we thought we'd splash out and go see SOAD and Black Label society in the USA now early May. I'd even reserved a Mustang to drive us around in to get the real feel !

(Un)Fortunately those plans had to be canned at the last minute, but the goal didn't die. Enter stage left plan B:

Our tickets to Novarock arrived in the mail yesterday !!!

I'll miss Black Label Society, but get to see a whole lot more 8) 8) 8)

Not sure how I'm going to sleep the week before we leave , I'm over excited already !!!!!

No Joke, but I'm leaving for Innsbruck on the 5th June, and yip, I'll see you there! Got our tickets about a month back. We're also going to Rob Zombie and Static X on the 22nd in Vienna!!!! ?

If you've done this type of festival abroad before give us some tips ! Being a noob at this we've gone the easy route and gotten some space in the Kempinski tents ! Touch sides before you leave and let see if we can meet at the festival and have a beer or three !

Well, I must have done something right recently ! I am going to get to see Black Label society too !

We'd planned to go down to Italy for a few days R and R after the festival, but on a whim I googled their updated tour dates and got lucky !! We've popped up to Amsterdam and will get a train down to the Hague to see them tonight !!!

I'll update when back in SA, but with regards the festival let me say SOAD were worth all the pain and suffering of festival living for three days and I am really getting to old for this stuff so that says something. Wolfmother and Sisters of Mercy were awesome too. Motorhead were great when the festival sorted the PA issues out. Maiden were good as usual. Linkin Park were a little disappointing.

Oh, and In Flames were excellent ! They have a new fan !

Aaargh ! Show cancelled a hour after the scheduled start time !

Apparently despite some sort of injections he couldn't perform. I know Zakk's health hasn't been good for awhile, I suspect I might have missed my chance to see them ☹

Nooooo, that's awfull!.....What's up with Zakk, I heard he'd stopped drinking recently. BS's album Order Of the Black is way cool!

I hate it when they do that at festivals. >☹ It always seems to me that you never get to see all the acts you want. In 2008 I was at the Brampton Festival (Cumbria) and was keen to go because they had Richard Thompson AND the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. When we got to the festival we found out that these two acts were headlining on different stages and their set times overlapped. Harrummmph.

I'd have loved to have seen both acts but it was impossible. It was Mrs X-rated's birthday and she insisted on seeing Thompson. No point in getting into a fight you can't win so I acquiesced ? He put on a great show, but it did mean that we sat through a support lineup that included the spooky Linda Nijlands who seemed to think that she was channelling the late Sandy Denny.

Was wandering around Istanbul on Sunday, hell of a lot of Iron Maiden t-shirts... penny dropped, they were playing that night (unfortunately about the same time as my flight back home...)
