DO BAND UP is the national search for individual musicians to form Southern Africa’s ultimate super-band.

Not to be confused with a ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition, DO BAND UP is unique, and consists of a completely novel format.

Thousands of hopefuls will converge on regional auditions in several of South Africa’s premier music cities, but only a handful will make it to the final national auditions in Pretoria. From this talent pool, 20 musicians will be selected:

5 vocalists
5 guitarists
5 bassists
5 drummers

The 20 aspiring rock star finalists will be thrown together in a mansion, where they’ll have to eat, sleep, work and play together. In the house, issues including compatibility, creative differences and flexibility will come into play. Only the true, dedicated professionals will endure....

Awesome!! Its practically the same as "Rockstar" which aired on GO tv a while back! It was awesome! (but they were only looking for a vocalist, for an already set band: including Jason (ex metallica bassist), Gilby (Guns n roses lead) and tommy (Motley crue).

thanks for the interest in our concept, and more importantly your comments!

We're obviously very excited about the concept, not only because we get to work with some of SA's finest muso's, but because we have a fantastic opportunity to unearth and showcase the wealth of talent in SA.

We should thank Telkom for making this possible. It's about time that the suits come round and put some money behind SA music, and in particular, ROCK!

With a much better format and competition layout, this competition will blow the likes of Idols of the screen completely. And to prove this, look at the people involved: Scarlet Box, Stealing Love Jones and Taxi Violence. We also convinced Sugardrive to dust of the equipment and reform, and we're flying Shaun from Seether in for the week. Impressive right? ?
