OK... are you sure the nut is OK? The nut can effect intonation, action and tuning stability. You can't be sure to get any of those right without checking the nut. So knowing if the nut is included in the price is an important consideration. And if it's not then, with all due respect to the person doing the job, it's hard to see how a good set up can be realistically expected.
AND the nut is the one part of most guitars that if you screw up you usually can't undo the damage. I'd do some jobs on my guitars myself - but I leave the nut to guys who know what they are doing.
Thankfully if you own a floyd rose equipped guitar and if it's been built properly none of this nut related doodad needs to be worried about ?
Not saying it's not important but if your guitar is floyd equipped or has one of them nifty fixed floyd bridges like the Ibanez ones then you don't need to worry about it unless the guitar has been built badly and actually needs shimming or to have the nut channel filed down.
Just mentioning this cause you haven't actually mentioned what kind of guitar it is ?
Also I use a tech named Mike Du Toit, he lives in the Southern Suburbs so it may be too out of your way but the man does amazing work with electronics and his fretwork came highly recommended to me so I'd imagine his setups would be good. His prices are definitly lower than the other "well-known" luthiers, and he's a really pleasant human being to work with. PM me if you'd like his number ?
