A mate is building on to his house and stored some gear at my place. I tried to convince him the Hughes and Kettner Tube 50 was stolen , but I think he'll notice if I haul it out at a jam session
Since there don't seem to be too many floating around, I thought I'd start checking out other amps which might be in the same ball park.
As a noob on tonal aspects, I lack the vocab to accurately describe what I like about it in terms that might be useful, but I'll have a go in anycase ??? ?
For background, my playing to date has mostly been through a Blackstar HT-5. The H+K clear and lightly driven sounded fantastic for the blues / blues rock / classic rock style I prefer to play. It responded very well to changes in attack at the guitar end. It just has a bigger sound than the HT-5 even at the same volume levels (yes, I know they are two different animals, but I was amazed.)
Any suggestion on what might be in the H+K ball park ? Ideally, lower wattage for home use, but if it takes 50 to get that sound so be it ?. I quite enjoyed the built in spring reverb, but will grudgingly admit it's probably a nice to have and not an absolute requirement.
