Having recently cleared out a few unused pedals, I'm now dealing with what I'm purchasing to replace them with. My current chain is:
POYTUNE>535Q>POG2>TWOSOME FUZZ>WHAMMY>BOOST 'N BUFF>MUDHONEY>BLUEBOY DELUXE>NOVA DELAY
Now, as you astute peoples have noticed, I have no modulation, and frankly I miss it. I particularly want tremolo and phaser, and wouldn't mind a Leslie sim either.
So, I have two options:
Order an Eventide Modfactor, which will achieve everything I want, or order a Tap-a-Whirl and an Empress Phaser. Obviously the single pedal route is a heck of a lot more expensive, but appeals to my boutique consumerist ways...
So, wise and magnanimous friends, what advice do you offer?
Vick
empress tremolo ate the tap-a-whirl ?
I'd go with singles, but that's just me...
Mainly coz I like to make funky sounds with slow saw tooth trems before my fuzz, and have my phaser second last in my chain...
Unless your running a coiks...the eventide would result in a wall-wart...
Thou the modfactor is a amazing peddal.

If you need to cover a lot of ground with one pedal and will use patches, Modfactor. If you want simplicity and the ability to choose the best sound (to your ear) for each, go for single pedals. Single pedals also allow you to have more than one mod pedal going at the same time.
I have a vibe and a phaser ATM (Lovepedal and Small Stone), which cover all I need live. If you want a good Leslie sim, single pedals are definitely the best way to go (Option 5, Strymon, Tortuga).

Tbh, I only really want trem and phaser...
As both of you have said, I can then place these anywhere in the chain...hmm.
It seems a resolution has arisen!
Vick, whats your opinion on the empress trem?

The Digitech Hardwire SP-7 & TR-7 sound great ...

I've actually decided to go the modfactor route, with the t1m foot switch. The other option was just too expensive...and ultimately it's not going to be an effect I'll use much ?
