I'd reverse that statement. Fralins are quite traditional, Kinmans take some of the nice characteristics of good single-coils and exaggerate them a little.
The Kinmans are for me the best all-around noiseless pickups. Fralins (and Lollars) are the best traditional pickups. The Fender CS pickups are nice too, just a different take on the same themes.
