Hey guys, me and a bunch of friends started a band a while ago,
but we recently recorded a bit of a demo and got a facebook page up ?

We going by the name of Midnight Blue, and fit into the blues genre

I really like it! I like the upbeat rhythm feel it has, but without being "jazzy". It is understated, yet soulful - something rare in this world where everything has to be on 11.

We working on a few new songs, and will be recording a few more tracks in the upcoming holidays,
its just a bit hectic with school and everything ( We all between 16-18 yrs)

But yeah, we hope to maybe hit up an open mic night some time ?,
when that time comes I will let you guys know! ?

How did you record if I may ask?

We used an ART 2 channel audio interface and both a Roland DR-80c and a Shure Sm57
We used the condenser as an overhead for drums and then an sm57 on the kick
For guitar it was an sm57 close mic'd with the condenser for a bit of room ambience
Bass was done DI out of the amp
And vocals were done with the condenser

Hahaha,
The bassists Dad has a huge gear collection which includes a gibson es-175 and previously had a vintage ac-30...
He also has a PA system which we use for practicing... quite crazy

I guess thats the huge advantage of having a band member with a dad who has been an active musician for years ?

But also Manfred has been a huuuuge help as far as how to actually use the stuff ? lol

I love the drum sound. Al that with only 2 mics? I've heard of a technique like that before. do you mind drawing a diagram of how you did it?
