Try the Head and Cab... MUUUUUUCH better!!! Seriously ?
But yeah, i suppose whats not to like is the fact that it doesnt have a name to it like Marshall, or Fender, or Vox, or Orange, or Mesa or or or or or or or...

People forgetting that the owner is the ex designer of Marshall and Vox amps...

but each to their own... im just busy raising the cash i need for my head and cab!

The legendary amps (Vox, Marshall) that is still considered the best were designed in the 50's or 60's (MOSTLY)... He only started at Marshall in the early 70's... So he did not design most of their "Flagship" amps but helped making them "better" and reliable for modern day use. He was part of Vox when they launched the CC's in 2005, so he was also involved with the design of my amp... But it's not the CC that makes this amp what it is, but rather the ac30 part... (If you can hold out till end of the year you can buy my Vox) ? ... Hahaha...

But my 2c says that these amps sound great but reliability might still be questioned!!

Jacquesg4j wrotereliability might still be questioned!!

How so??

Well I believe in the test of time.

Albion even goes so far as to manufacture the transformers, printed circuit boards, speaker cones, loudspeakers, and wiring right in their own factory. This alone gives them an incredible level of quality control that is unmatched.

This can either be a good or a bad thing!

Right, so, here's a question...
How many amplification companies currently have products coming from China? and how is their reliability?

Loads. Questionable sometimes...

Sometimes... Some proven though... Comes back to test of time!

Thing is, that even those test of time items have a dud here and there...

even the best handmade items from Germany or America have a dud here or there!!

the fabulous thing about tube amps is that because of the design they are easily "modded" or any feature that you consider risky /unreliable can be fairly easily replaced and wow if you check out the mods available on he internet for virtually every tube amp it's incredible.......

so really if you like the amp.cos each will have a distinctive tone (which is why tube amps are loved so much) any probs can ussually be fixed or modded and it seems there's a lot of very capable tube amp techs on this site

so in my limited knowledge in my short quest for tube amps for myself i realised ...that it's the tone what one must go for , by that i mean the sound you personally like, not what somebody else uses or likes..and i also found different guitars make the same tube amp sound anything from brilliant to mediocre .....so find what works for you and your guitar and musical genre .everything else can be fixed or modded even if it comes from china ?

That is somewhat true. The tube amps that are easily modded are the handwired ones, which are built on turret board or eyelet board or similar. If they are built on pc boards, the circuit itself is not easily modifiable but the components can be replaced with different values and/or better quality components. Unfortunately this is untrue for almost every tube amp you can buy today, and building amps on PC board makes economical sense as well as in terms of reliability if done right. Building an amp on pc board means you can have a machine install and solder all the connections and they are much better at it than humans, they can do it quicker and better hence the price coming down greatly that way. You can modify solid state amps built on pc board as easily as you can tube amps built on pc board (i.e. not that easily)

Manfred Klose wrote maby its time i jump in.

I own an Albion TCT50H head.
.............lol i can already feel the tomatoes coming. ?

I got it for a very good price and could not resist, and also needed an amp at the time, as my marshall was out of action.

my take on the Amp:

Its a very good amp overall, and perfect for live gigging.
Its NOT made for metal ? , but it does rock and blues very well. i had some nickelback type sound setup on the amp.
i am running it through a Laney GS212 cabinet(celestion 70/80's), the celestion sounds very flat, and not ideal, but they sound lekker with a marshall head.

I ran it through the Albion cab before to test, and i must say it sounds much better on the albion cab than the laney cab, so the speakers they use is specially modelled for albion amps.

The advantage of owning an amp that was designed in such modern times, there is no hum at all when you run it from the wall, there is the obvios hum you still get from the guitar and cable, and if you stand close to the amp, but overall its very quit and sounds clean.

The clean channel is very good.

I played on the TCT35combo, its OK, nothing close to the 50, but worth the money.

Manfred...

Just a quick one... When did you buy your amp? and how is it holding up? i assume you gig regularly with it?!

Norman86

I want the Head and cab myself...
The combo is nice, but the 2x12 is just better! ?
