Anyone know if any shops in JHB stock these amps??
i know of a shop in witbank, but dont want to go all that way just to test one out!
Max
Check with the Music Mate stores. I know that Music Mate in the West Rand had one of these amps for sale. I'm not sure if they still have but you can give them a call.

Brand new company. Seems to be connected to Wharfedale, so
Audioshure will be the local distributors.
Norman86
but even as the wharfedale unit, there isnt much info Alan ?
But yes, Audiosure are the distributors!

So, i was at Cash crusaders yesterday...
and the lowest they were willing to go was R3700... with only a 3 month warranty. so i told them they can keep it!
Look, its a great price, i mean, the thing is still brand new by the looks of it, and also knowing the albion "history"... but still... only 3 month warranty for something from cash converters... i dont think so!!
So i decided to go looking around in the vicinity...
Park meadows Music mate can order the Albion amp... they at least knew who Albion are!
they also happened to have some nice other things! and a bridge pin puller i have been looking for since being taught how to change my acoustics strings! lol!
from there i went to Mercury music opposite greenstone as well as sound select shop...
Sound select knew about the albion product range, offered to get me the price and get back to me.
Mercury music went the extra mile... said they could organise one from audiosure, the agents (without me telling them they're the agents) just so i could test it, and offered to better any price i came across... would you call this service?? i would... and they know im only going to test it and not buy it...
but really... special mention has to be made of Marshall Music in woodmead...
They had no idea about Albion amps, who the distributors are, hell, even who Steve Grindrod is.
And then still say, they will only stock things that will sell!
Oh, and if i want the amp, they can order one for me, but i have to pay for it first.
Just a tip, before saying such things to consumers, find out what the hell they're talking about before putting them off your store, again. i wont go in there again. ever. if my life depended on it!
Firstly, Albion isnt THAT new...
secondly, as a guitar shop, shouldnt you be in the know about such things??
Hell, albion has been in the muse magazine a few times... dont they read the magazines they have on their shelves?
should have taken the trip to music connection instead! but that was more travelling than i was prepared to do, or had petrol for! pity.
Lastly...
The albion website is not exactly the best resource at the moment...
neither on the speakers used or anything really other than very basic specs...
not even nice high res pics of their gear... ☹
and their gear really does look good after seeing it in the flesh...
i so wanted to but the amp from Cash converters... but not for R3700!!!
Albion might not have a name, yet... but the price you pay, for the tones you get... hell... i'd buy this any day of the week and twice on sunday!!!
aja
Thanks for sharing..
Although I really like marshall music woodmead, I too have experienced them being too big for their shoes on occasion.
But it is a pity, because they have also given me and some friends great service in the past...
Norman86
This isnt a shop bashing thread btw...
but damn... if im gonna get comments like that!
you gotta understand, its the way it was said, very condescending.
Especially after the other shops went out their way to want to help!
But i gotta say something...
i seriously like this amp and want to test it out, with my own guitar if possible...
and i have found a shop thats willing to do that, so lets see if they make good on that!
If its still sounds good, i will make a plan to buy it! theres nothing in the same price that comes close!
one other thing... i might be a browser... but hell... i know what i want, and i good service!
Norman86
Look what i found on FB:
Steve Grindrod was in the country,
and was at an Audiosure dealer event...
hmmm....
for people who stock allen and heath, samson, hartke, G7, im sure stagg and wharfedale too... ag... im not gonna finish that. no point hey.
but its interesting to know Steve was here.
I really hope something is done to make Albion more well known here!

Albion was only launched at NAMM this year.
I'm not sure what you expect - new boys on the block, backed by a company only known for their hi-fi and PA gear (whose own guitar lines have not made much of a dent in the market in two years) and launching into a saturated market with long-established and firmly entrenched leaders. It'll take them a while to achieve any kind of market penetration and at this point it's almost a wonder anyone has heard of them at all.
Norman86
come on Alan...
Their products were available last year already!!! they might have only had an official launch now with NAMM, but that doesnt mean they havent been around!
I have a bunch of muse books for instance... i remember seeing many reviews for albion!
Jun/jul 2010 it was as the Wharfdale tct35, oct/nov 2010 the ag80dfx.
the 2011 gear guide has them listed on pg 26!
So, it seems to me, from the distributors side, there is something being done about advertising it...
the shops knew about it... or know about it...
so its not like it was released yesterday... its not like audiosure doesnt have any stock...
i dunno... maybe they at least need to stock one for testing purposes then?! is that too much to expect?
Its not as if they're moving the bogners, the mesa boogies, the huge marshalls etc...
