..............these bands or gitfiddlers go over in SA? I know they are all old news but I did a search on some band/artist names and got no hits here so I figured I would throw some names out.

Some are pretty good, others okay....all somewhat interesting I think. Mostly the video's suck..... it is just to shout some names.....if by any chance you don't know one, it's up to you to find out more. ?

Seen many a band here-The Baked Potato, used to live in the place almost...this is Jeff Kollman.

Chris is decent, seen him a time or two....Austin boy.

I am heavy into Gypsy Jazz. These two are both greats....Stochelo is without a doubt my favorite GJ player.. the younger of the two.

I'm killing you guys with links here......lol......I will leave you with some Andreas. If I looked like this guy, in between gigs I'd let the Calvin Klein guys pay me beaucoup bucks for photo ads. LOL!!!

BTW....when you watch guys like Stochelo who stay pretty true to the Gypsy Jazz style, consider that as fast as they play....the almost #1 rule of Gypsy picking is for every string change, you start with a downstroke. They employ rest stroke picking and whenever that pick strikes an adjacent string, it has to be with a downstroke. No alternating up and down all the time. Incredible. And the wrist is so relaxed, yet they get such volume...sheer power.

Anyway...I hope I have been able to bring a new player to at least a couple of you guys.

Well there's a name that I know. Phew....

He's a fab player, and works a lot in bluegrass and things that cross over to or from bluegrass - the sort of things that Frisell or, in his more adventurous moments, Jerry Douglas might get up to. I've got a couple of records with him on - Tim O'Brien, Elvis Costello... errm something else that I can't put a name to right now.

But even in the USA that's a niche market. It's just that in the USA - and this is the beauty of the place (or one of the beauties) - a niche market percentage wise is still a big market. In SA Viktor won't be reaching a lot of people - market is too small and too remote.

If you like Viktor then keep an eye open for Edgar Meyer - really, really fab double bass player who ranges from bluegrass to classical (plays with Jerry Douglas, plays with Yo Yo Ma). I've got a disc of duets by Meyer and Bela Fleck - magical.
