One pedal/effect built into guitar - which one?
aja
If you could build a single pedal into a guitar, with one knob easily accessible, what would it be?
I have a big cavity to fill. It used to have lots of MIDI circuitry in it and I'm leaning towards the lovepedal amp 50. I can have one exterior control knob and up to three switches, anything else will have to remain internal. The control knob will be a push-pull pot to activate/deactivate the pedal.
Sounds like it would be really cool to have a simple overdrive circuit built right into the guitar. And before you ask, yes there is another cavity prepped and filled with a 9V battery already and I added a stereo battery switching jack.
Would a boost be a better option? What would you want to have? Valvecaster perhaps? ?
The EP boost is also very tempting because of those bass/treble internal switches

Overdrive can be done in the space of less than a sugarcube - they call it Black Ice.
The clasic example of an effect built into a guitar is Andy Summer´s Tele-with-chorus, gorgeous tone that.

What is it, a Casio or one of the Ibanez MIDI guitars?
Speaking as someone who has had everything from DIs to drives, GK-1s to GK-2s, the only
effect
worth having onboard is a buffer/preamp and maybe some active tone controls. Anything else there is too much chance you're going to want to change after a while. To be honest, at the end of the day I found a passive output to be best.
You can fit a Graph Tech Ghost piezo system. That's what my Sanox ended up with. As long as the bridge has fairly standard saddles, it's do-able. Doesn't take up much space, even if the battery is in the cavity, but gives you a few controls to fill holes. Plus you could fit
You could also go all Matt Bellamy and fit a Kaoss pad. ?

HAHAHAHA
+1 Alan I was just gonna suggest that!

I had a boost installed on my previous jaguar...
First time around I installed a LPB-1, worked nicely and stuff...then I changed to a Micro amp, ala Jack white...
If you have space for all those switches, rather have a on off switch ? in the heat of the moment I'd usually change the amount of boost when I engage the push-pull...sum times a little, other times a lot...or wire it so when it is in the down position, the boost is engaged, also helps.
Boost wise, iv had a couple, lpb-1, lpb-2,micro amp, beano boost, bad bob boost, boost'n buff v1 and v2...I'd say see if you can find a b'n b v1 ? the bad bod bob was also really nice thou...

Compressor if you regularly make use of one?
The famed Keely, perhaps?
Seems it should be something neutral...
