Senseless Guitar Deaths

This is based on true events, and some of the images may disturb you. We are all proud guitar owners, but how many of us have had the misfortune of loosing one of our most beloved instruments in a horrid, senseless accident. This is the story of my 1985 Fender Santa Cruz. In October 2009, I was on my way to work, teaching guitar at the American International School of Johannesburg, where is was involved in a terrible car accident. I was stationary, indicating to turn and got hit from behind at about 100kph! My fender was in the boot: Here are the pictures of my guitar, I have never been the same since I lost her… ☹ I thought we could all commiserate the loss of our instruments here, together…

What are the cheap guitars called that the guy from the Ramones used to play, it was held together by the string tension?

Johnny Ramone played mostly Mosrites.

it was held together by the string tension?

Not that I know of. Their big claim to fame was the reversed offset.

I read an interview with their one time Roady, in the first week he changed the strings and the thing came apart, didnt know what to do and the band had to sound check. Obviously changed the strings one at a time after that.

People who smash guitars are not deserving of any respect IMHO

I am truly sorry to hear about the accident, but it's all too common on SA roads with the nutters who get licences and get behind the wheel- but this is a guitar forum, so no rant here. Will save it for my own website.

I read the entire article about "The Goose's" Taylor acoustic on Andy's website. They do truly remarkable work, that's true.

Terrifying and painful at the same time. :'(
Why, does it bring back memories? ???
?

Lol ? Not with an Anderson (i'd slit my wrists before i do something like that to an Anderson), but i've had a near miss with a friend's tele. Think Clapton's save on Martin Scorcese's The Band movie. The guitar wasn't resting properly with the strap and while i was busy adjusting the strap, the guitar decided to take a dive. It was quick thinking plus a combination of using my left thigh & arm that saved that guitar.
