MIKA-the-better-one

So thats a pretty simple concept....... I just bought a a 2 by 10 Carmen Ghia Combo, to be delivered to my new house in Florida. Its an Amp I did not think I owuld have enough cash for but it all worked out and I got a brand new model with Brake lite.
I also got the limited edition Surf green..... no pics yet but when I get there.........
Sweet this is my first new amp ever...... Now just one week till I can play it...

Congrats Mika. A very good choice! I got some good amp news today as well. Now just to start the long road to make it a reality.

No secrets allowed.

Congrats Mika. A truly great amp - a modern classic and the jewel in Dr Z's crown IMO.

@ Joe - now you've got me wondering...

ActionArnie

Nice Mika, you won't need another amp ... ever ?

guitarboy2828

Just checked it out on youtube! ??? That amp sounds AMAZING!!!!!!

MIKA-the-better-one

Thanks guys... It was by far my favourite...... 18 watts, run it on the edge of breakup.... it will be so sweet...... It was a bit nerve racking buying such a low wattage amp in comparison to what i am used to...... but now I to am curious about this secret

Norman86

Congrats Mika, cant wait to see what the amp is about ?

Garren

Very nice amp ?
Dr.Z's are absolutely incredible,
And yeah... im pretty jealous ?

makepeace

i love the controls. congrats!

MIKA-the-better-one

Thanks, I figured simpler the better..... leaves more room for awsome tones......
Now I am looking at a BAd Cat Classic cat... same layout just a 6v6 setup ?

ActionArnie

The Dr Z is great .... but .... $200 more and you could've had an evil*robot (assuming you paid the price on the link you posted) ... and the evil*robot, she's nice

MIKA-the-better-one

The evil robot is a great sounding amp, but it seemed a bit tweed ish and dirty for me..... The ghia had a more vox thing going (in a weird way)

MikeM

Really jealous man.. You gonna get your hands on some crazy awesome gear. Can just imagine how you're gonna go through cabs as well. Btw the SHO failed :\ Putting another one together as soon as a buy a new soldering iron (Not sure if it'll be on time. Lol)

ActionArnie

Yeh the robot is actually a little harsh (maybe its the speaker, I hear it makes a big difference ? ). The original tonemaster sounded better to me despite the fact that its supposedly copied exactly.

There are some significant differences between old and modern varistors which have a large impact on the tone of Magnatones.. That's why the Robot won't be spot on ? Amongst other things like caps, speaker etc.

MIKA-the-better-one

I think both amps sounded sweet just a bit tweedish for me....... I hope greatly and have heard from some sources that the ghia does that edge of breakup sound great, thats what I am going for .... I can obviously tell everyone if it achieves that in a few days....
@MikeM .. shame about the SHO, yeh I doubt I will be about ☹ but then again I can always help in sending you parts ?

arjunmenon

Congrats Mike. Really lovely sounding amp.
