Traveling to the USA... What do i need?

Okay, so im lost and clueless... What will i need? I only know i will need a Visa and a passport! But as for application of the visa, how does one go about it? Also, any other advice of what one needs and should know?? This isnt immediately though, but its a short term plan for work! Thanks!
