AFD combo from Marshall

Frankly it would probably be more within my price range for the tone I'm after. I can't exactly get a head and combo, as much as I'd like to...

Then I also am keen on the Ibanez amp....

But I reckon you're paying a lot more for it being a signature model Dom. And it's not like the full sized one that's a recreation of a particular amp. This one will effectively sound very little like a modded 100watt JCM800 because it's a 5watt amp. QED. It's simply another 5 watt Marshall, and probably at a premium. Class 5 will surely hit the spot for less money?

I've already solved my cranked tube amp tone + sleeping kids volume issue with the AFD100. I can play through this amp, with the power scaling set on around 2watts and the volume up at about 7/10, with my son sleeping peacefully in the room across the passage.

I don't think this little combo will solve any volume problems. From having a tinkle on the Class 5 at Coastal while I was there I'll say that a cranked 5watt amp is still damn loud.

I dunno, I'll give it a shot before I write it off.

The AFD 100 could have been "just another Marshall" but I can tell you it certainly isn't. And if Shaun if happy to play it at 2W then it speaks volumes (groan) for what these things can do.

as a matter of interest what does the standard class 5 sell for?

and the standard 100 vs the AFD 100 ..what is the percentage difference ...

u could sort of then guestimate what the class 5 AFD would run at but of course it aint scientific
