We recently went for dinner with a fiend who has been over seas for a few years. I was hoping to catch up and talk nonsense about the crap we'd get up to in school etc. It was the most frustrating evening. Every so often he would just interrupt the conversation and start fiddling on his blackberry, ignoring us and focusing all his attention on the damned thing, at one point for 5 minutes. We eventually excused ourselves, he was quite taken aback. This is also not the first time it has happened to me. Its as if blackberry owners feel they have licence to be rude and ignore the people who have actually made the effort to spend time with them, to 'stay connected' and 'in the loop'. Ballistic Bowel Movement if you ask me!! >☹
I don't think that's a BB thing particularly. I have friends who will accept an invitation to come to supper and then engage in long cell phone conversations around the table.
The BB just offers more options, but the problem is a human one.
