It's more free browsing than uncapped, you can't download things like youtube vids or streaming audio and stuff, then you get nailed with a data charge.

Downloads under something like 5megs are free, streaming isn't. Point is, instead of my data bill being R300, it's R60.

I dunno... browsing and downloading on a phone is still not the greatest!

The only time i was spending that much on data bundles on my phone, was when i used to use my phone as a modem! Then i got a actual data contract, much easier and better experience browsing properly on my pc!

To the OP...

Get the phone with the features and specs that you want, and the one that looks nicest to you!

But when it comes to extra services, like blackberry services, understand what the terms and conditions are!
For instance, its ONLY on device browsing! You cannot use the BB as a modem!

Hell, my nokia 7600 was receiving my email way back when...
so was my 6630...

To some people, BB might be great... but i have to laugh and shake my head when people tell me about their free internet and messaging with bbm, even though they admit to paying R60 a month for it.
Free, in my books, means NOT paying for it! Not paying R60 and then saying its free!
Its just a phase anyway... Soon there will be a new one and then we wont have to hear how "great" blackberry's are with their free internet!

Unfortuntaly there are always the Anti part of Society, I had a Samsung and after getting my Blackberry, with the R60 fee and exactly the same subscription, I am saving about R150 per month on internet Fees. So have a laugh if you must, but that's about 2 packs of strings. ?

Seriously there is all this Hype about Blackberry, and I was very reluctant to get one, I still wish I had got an Android phone, but there is nothing wrong with Blackberry, especially if you are on the net a lot, Social Websites etc.

Also wrong to judge brands on their earlier models, especially the Mobile Device market, because the technology is changing every other day.

Just because the Americans enjoy it doesn't mean it's crap ?

Remember the original iphone?
remember the comarisons between the iphone and a rock in terms of features?

I also have my doubts about reliability when many of my friends have had to go through their 5th or 6th blackberries!
Even on the torch, the curve, different models!

ps... i browse the net quite a bit off my Nokia E75... using Opera Mini... That is a cost saving feature!
My data charges arent even R50!

I had a BB torch from work a while back as we get them for free. I gave it back after 2 weeks..............the constant checking of emails did me in. That and the fact us being an Embassy, we get majority of our work coming through afterhours because of the time differences. Slave to the red light............NO MORE.

I've got a Nokia C5 and happy as can be.

That's the thing about BB... you have to know how it works... You can set it in "hibernation" at night so that you don't get any alerts except for calls and sms... You can set it the way you want it! AND you can turn the red light off??

As our phones come pre-loaded for us, we can't change anything on them. You can't even engage bluetooth. Yup, my job does have drawbacks...........lol.

Got the entry level BB Curve a few months back.

As a device, it's not all that impressive. The menus are clunky and the software isn't particularly inspiring, but I think that for what it does it's a great fit.

I've never personally felt the appeal of "smart" phones and PDAs, although some of that prejudice comes from my negative experiences with early generation PDAs and similar devices.

I think the BlackBerry is perfect for people who just want the unlimited chat functionality and anytime access to email. For the more techno-phile minded people, devices based on Android seem to be the way to go. Apple is always an option too if you don't mind spending the money and you're realistic about what you're getting for that money.

I don't have my work mail linked to my BB, only my Gmail. I don't feel the need to constantly check work stuff outside of work hours, and the BB can make it all too easy to do that. Obviously other devices can offer the same functionality, often in a cleverer way, but the BB's focus on the functionality of the basics is what has seen it capture such a broad user-base.

Blackberry all the way , once you black , you never go back , specially if you spend half the day on the net checking forums and chat and so fourth , the simple R59 for all your chatting , emails , surfing , downloading is a huge plus . hell i can even remote into my servers to reboot them , or check logs all from my phone , i just love it .

remoting into servers from your phone was possible YEARS ago already...
you didnt need a BB... You just needed your Nokia Smartphone! ?

Anyway, the form factor makes typing easier when lying in bed, or sitting behind a desk...
But makes even just replying a simple "yes" dangerous while on the road.
I love my E75 for the best of both worlds!
I HATE my E63... Comfortable keyboard, but its not a single handed operator, or something you could type on without looking what you're typing!

BB would be the same as the E63!
