yamaha c40 nylon to have and to hold. thoughts?
domhatch
here's the deal. i'm thinking of bringing in an inexpensive nylon-string guitar because i love the way they feel and sound. i'm not overly fussy at this stage in terms of tone as i won't be recording or anything fancy with it, it'll just be to get me up and running on the instrument. i found one at around a click, new. any ideas on other brands i should be looking at?
i've also heard of nylon/classical guitars loaded with strings that offer a little extra tension for added, well, for added bang i guess. anyone else cocked an ear or even better, a play on these and if so, where, and in a different price range? does anyone even know what i'm talking about here?
thanks y'all

I have played these at a couple of Cash Crusaders/Converters and they are surprisingly awful.
I am a huge Yamaha Nylon fan and was dissapointed with the quality of this instrument.
Gumtree etc, I have seen some older Yamaha's go for quite cheap.

Yup. You can do a
lot
better.

in the same price range? around a thousand?

Just agreeing with the others here quickly...
I have an old CG65 which is wonderful to live and play with, also have a new CS40 and it can not even compare. Looks like the new lower end nylons are skimping on quality.
I won't be able to recommend a different one though since I don't have much experience with them, but yeah definitely steer clear of the C40.

The Cort AC10 retails around R1k - R1100 IIRC, so discounted should cost you R750 - R800.
