Bob-Dubery
Mrs X-rated and I paid a visit to the Sammy Marks Museum out at Zwartkoppies today. Quite lekker it was too. Now Marks lived in less regulated times when there was less concern (and less need for concern) about the environment. There are several pieces of large, splendid, Brazilian rosewood furniture on display.
Also three of our party (for the guided tour) were American and, when asked by the guide, said they were from "New York". I got talking to one of them at the end of the tour and it turned out that they are from New York STATE. Woodstock to be prexact. She told me that, yes, she'd been at THE Woodstock (which actually wasn't in Woodstock, but still). She'd been "for the scene". She was a big Hendrix fan and had seen his set. She also recalls seeing The Band (based in Woodstock at the time) and Janis Joplin. I asked her if she'd seen The Incredible String Band. "I don't know! I was just having a good time."
She said that Robbie Robertson had only recently moved out of Woodstock. He'd been the last member of The Band to reside there.
