Help Me...The perfect guitar for Nu-Metal,Alternative and Rapcore styles?!

What is this thing 'nu-metal' and 'rapcore' that you speak of? I thought it died at the turn of the century. ?

You need to decide:

6 string detuned or 7 string ?

fixed bridge or trem ? (tremolo will allow some of those Borland-esque dramatic tricks)

You definitely need: 2 x HB pickups

22 or 24 frets

Medium to high output pickups

Space on scratchplate/body cavities for a killswitch etc

Ok just to throw a spanner in the works here. When you're starting out, you don't need to decide anything. Just get a guitar and start playing it, any guitar you like and fits your budget. Make sure it's a guitar you like, that's the only important thing. Cos if you hate it you won't play it.

Any guitar with humbucking picukps can do metal. The amps you mentioned are both great. Trems can be blocked, so get one and see if you like it. Or not. It really doesn't matter that much. Scale length and all those other subtleties matter hardly anything at all when you're starting out.

Best is the enemy of good. Just start.

You can do it with pieces of wood, business cards, 9v batteries - I've seen people block them with pretty much anything they can find that'll fit.

I would get a fixed bridge if I were you.. As has already been said above, a trem kinda restricts you in terms of changing your guitars tuning (you can change tunings, but its a flipping hack).

The way I started playing guitar was just playing to my favourite band's tracks, and if you're wanting to play metal.. the tunings bands use will vary from standard, to drop D, to drop C and maybe even further. I reckon you will be frustrated no end not being able to easily change tunings, especially since the bands you mention all use different tunings. Unless you're desperate to pull off some Dragonforce divebombs etc, just get a fixed bridge. It'll be cheaper and will save you a lot of hassle. For me, the cons of having a trem far outweigh the pros.

Get your hands on something like a Cort X5 (hardtail) and a Roland Cube 30X. (All second hand.) You'll need nothing more for a very long time. Even the pickups in the X5 is more than usable and won't need to be upgraded for a long time, if ever...

Remember that tone starts with your fingers, not the guitar or the amp -although they enhance your tone either negatively or positively... I picked up an X5 for ridiculous money a while back and she blows me away each time I play on her. The Roland Cube range is probably the most reliable smaller amps that I've ever used. They can produce a wide variety of tones up to and including very high gain Rectifier tones. I've had a number of Cubes over the years and they've never let me down.

I'm an outright Ibanez fan although I own and like a wide range of guitar makes. I've never been a Cort fan and only recently discovered how much quality they offer for your money. I've subsequently bought 4 second-hand Corts over the last few months. I now prefer my Corts to their Ibanez counter parts unless the Ibanez is an older Japanese model or from the Prestige range and up from there... Then it's a whole different ballgame...

I replied to all your PM's.

I hope you can get your hands on something like a Cube 30X and a Cort X-5. This combo won't limit you for a very long time imo and offer everything you need+. I play my X-5 with confidence alongside my R30k+ guitars... If you get 2 Boss FS-5U footswitches for the amp at a later stage, you'll also be able to switch between clean and dirty channels on the go as well as effects on and off. Then you'll have all you need to focus on your playing instead of gear. Work up to making your playing through this setup sound phenomenal before even considering any upgrades and additions. Develop the tone your fingers create instead of chasing 'the' sound you hear in your head by getting more gear because it just doesn't work that way round. I've wasted countless $ by placing the cart in front of the horse -if you know what I mean...
