Totally different vibe !
4 me the T'Bird is very much a "rock with pick" (Nirvana, Placebo, SOAD etc ...) kinda bass.
However, when it comes to "classic" bass tones, the Jazz & P-bass are #1, followed by (in no particular order) a Gibson EB-3, Rickenbacker 400x series (including that T'Bird of course).
The Fender neck won't feel as "1/2 baseball bat" round - almost feels like a 50's fat SG neck 2 me.
Think of the P-Bass as the equiv. of a Tele and the Jazz as the lower output more versatile equiv of a Strat - at my place we have both 4 different occassions.
The P's generally have wider bigger necks, whereas the J's are VERY skinny at the nut - I'm selling an Ibanez lawsuit-copy P-Bass 3TS for R 2000.00 ONCO - still have 2 put AD up :-[
