arjunmenon Hi everybody, After trying to put all the information together in MS Word and spending all morning at it, i've come up with something interesting for people with 7 string guitars. The info in the attachement can also be applied to 6 string guitars. I would also advise anyone reading this to check out Meir's (Satriani on the forum) excellent lessons. i did this because i couldn't find anything for seven stringers. Cheers. https://s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/attachments.guitartalk/a760880003e7ddedfef56acb3b09697f-Major%20Scale%20for%207%20strings.doc
Satriani Very nice Arjun ? I'm sad to say I've never actually tried to play on a 7 string yet, but I figured I would slip into the theory side of it easiest just as having another B string, and all the notes are already memorised that way. Interesting how all the modes shift tho ? thanks!
arjunmenon Hey Satch, Thank you for the kind words. Its quite cool, how the modes shift when applied to a 7 string guitar. I'm sure you will find a 7 string interesting mostly because you've got the theory down solid and also because a 7 string has great range in that you wouldn't have to move around too much to get to the various notes...IMO, its great for jazz-like application because you get comfortable with position based playing and then you can always throw in the linear lick. Hope you don't mind the fact that i asked people to check out your excellent lessons ? Keep well.
