Can I just ask those in the know... The original recording of Superstition has this synth lick with a guitaresque sound to it. It's clearly a pathetic attempt for a synth to sound like something that sounds like a guitar, it is so wrong that it sounds right. In short, I would like to find a patch for my synth that sounds that way, but I don't know what to look for. Does this sound have a name? If no-one knows, how about explaining how it is built up?

IIRC the riff on the original recording was played on a Hohner Clavinet - not a synth at all.

Me too!!! How did I miss this? Stevie is monumental..... I liked his stuff right from when he was "Little Stevie Wonder" and did songs like "I was made to love her". My all-time favourite SW album (which I still have) is the double album: "Songs In The Key Of Life" .......ok, that's a lie, I like all his stuff.

As it turns out the Korg X5dr I bought apparently has got some cool Clavinet patches. Shows how well versed a synth person I am (cough). So now the wait for the thing to get here...

Yeah - the Hohner D6 Clavinet - Superstition is basically the archetypal Clavinet showcase. One of the all time classic keyboards. Each key has a hammer, a string, a damper to keep the sustain short and an electromagnetic pickup.
