So I've decided to build an amp. A twin channel 18 watt amp based loosely on the 1974x Marshall from the 60s. The first channel will be more or less the same...

Be wary of those heater wires around the sockets. If you can and if there is opposing current in the two wires, twist them as well. This is the first place you need it - close to your signal.

Sigh... I can. They're a pain to do but I guess now it'll be a lot easier than later should they give trouble.

Yeah the turretboard is lying next to my keyboard here. Its full of empty holes. I need to make absolutely sure my layout is correct before I put the turrets in as moving them later will be painful.

Have a look at the ampmaker SE5. That one seems like a winner for a 5 watt. ?

Ez with some plastic and locally available turrets: my favourite rs components has them under nr 433-589.

I have all of that. Turretboard, turrets, mounting tool etc. Just need to prepare myself...

So I started knocking in the turrets and then realised my layout suggested much more space on the board than reality is providing. Had to redo the layout. So here it is, Gurus please check (if you feel up to it, there's so many lines...)

I've added the ground busses, they're a bit bent but electrons don't care ?

I've started wiring the pots, will post photos soon...

Normal Channel's Tone and Volume

(L-R) Treble Middle Bass, part of the Superlite channel

Gain and Master Volume. The thick blue wire is a piece of George L's, it connects the Gain's wiper to the next stage, and it is recommended that these be shielded wire.

Its starting to look like an amp! Don't ask about that knob that's missing its gold cap...
