Ideally, I don't want to buy a guitar from someone who isn't into the same players as me, let alone one who doesn't play at all!
Had this guy in a music store tell me that Ibanez guitars aren't really that good and that they're like a Golf whereas a Fender/Gibson is a BMW. I'm sorry but it'll never be as clear-cut as that. There are some Ibanez guitars out there that are absolute top-notch and a lot of Fenders/Gibsons that are plain rubbish.
What I've learned from being around Alan so much (in the virtual sense at least) these past few months is that it comes down to the parts, not the brand. You could even get 2 Ibanez guitars, one from Japan and one from (insert other place that has Ibanez factory) and, even on the same model, you'd find one is superior than the other.
