X-Rated show at TJs - May 5

Just to prevent any confusion "X-Rated" in this context means "hosted by X-Rated Bob".

TJs have asked me to host another evening of live music for them. This is going to be on May 5. As before I have some GFSAers on the bill. We have talented people here, and the forum members I invited onto the bill last time all delivered good performances. I'm sure this time will be no different, and it's a rewarding thing to be able to give these guys the opportunity to put their skills and creativity on display.

So the line up (not in running order) is

Them Particles
Warren Ross (Warren on GFSA)
Bruyns Trust (Mike Burger and Richard Bruyns)
John van Nierop and Scott Baldauf
The Cellphone Cowboys (Fingerpicker and other assorted disreputable characters)

What are the chances of video'ing this event? I for 1 would be SUPER keen to buy a dvd or watch some youtube clips of this!

If I did it I'd want to do it properly, and really I can't. I'd want a feed from the sound desk, and I'd want cameras positioned so that you don't see a constant stream of waiters, people going out for a smoke etc. I'd want cameras on tripods so there is no shake.

Also I'd want express permission from the performers
a) to record
b) to make the video available via the 'net.

Some would be uncomfortable with this I think, and in one case there would probably be copyright/licensing issues.

Last time I at least got some good quality photos (courtesy of Webejame).

Yeah, a properly done video would be great, selling them would be great too, but as you say there are some legal problems with it. Such a pity for us durbanites!

Photo's will be good too though. ?

There's something like TJs down in Durban, started by one of the guys who was involved in TJs and then decided to move away from civilisation. I'll see if I can find the name. Also Pete has posted before about some kind of acoustic club meeting in IIRC Queensburgh.

This looks lekker, I think I'll be dragging the missus out there. Some more info please? Where exactly is TJ's? What time? How much for entry? What is the format of the venue? You mention waiters, does that mean food is served or only drinks?

Venue is the Marks Park Club, Judith Rd, Emmarentia.

Doors open 7:30pm

Music starts 8:00pm

Light meals (toasted sarmies, wraps) and drinks can be ordered from the Marks Park staff

Admission: R25

Plenty of secure parking

Thanks, and yes, question badly phrased. By "format" I basically just asked about the setup of the venue, half of which you've answered already. Do we just show up and find a seat that we like? Does it have a table? Basically, do people show up hungry or do they show up well fed?

The food is light and usually on the salty side. So if you like toasted bacon and egg sarmies for supper you'll be fine. If your palette is a little more refined then maybe you want to get supper before you head for TJs. Beer, wine (by the bottle) and shorts are available as well as soft drinks, tea, coffee and mineral water.

There are chairs around tables. As the meneer for the night I'll probably reserve two tables for performers and my guests, but the rest will be unreserved and you just turn up and sit yourselves down.
