  • Tokai Les Paul LS-160 on Gumtree

Definitely worth it despite the awful pics.
I can't remember, do you have the LS-160 Singe?
seems a bit expensive for a 2nd hand one tho don't you think??? if i recall he wanted 12K
Same one I've got. Not too expensive. These sell for about R16K with discount. Equivalent to a Gibson '58 reissue LP. This is going for only slightly more than the low-end MIJ Tokai LPs new (and I'm sure this guy can be bargained down a little) but it has all kinds of yummy premium features - such as the one piece back, aluminium tailpiece, brass saddle bridge, CTS pots, sprague capacitors, and gotoh tuners.

Also a hard case - although as many have pointed out, this is a vintage type case and not as rugged as a modern case.

As you may know, Gibson no longer have the "Lifton" cases with their '59 and '60 RI's....with the result that prices of these have gone up to circa $450

Tokai cases are made by a third party and aren't exact clones of Lifton cases. They fit slightly more snugly around the body by the neck. I really like this old fashioned case - so much less bulky than the Gibson Protector (chainsaw case) for my other LP. But they are certainly not as strong or protective as a modern case. It's why you see the pictures of the cases held together with duct tape and bungee cords for gigging musicians in the '70s.
