Not in real life Bob...
From the pics i have seen though, the shubb looks huge!!
The other thing is, i cant see how it works, or make out how it works from the pictures i have seen!
Thats why i bought the kyser type capo... spring loaded, easy to clip on and off and understand!
I have never used the Shubb but have heard they are superior to the Kyser, I have a genuine Kyser and am not overly impressed.
Maybe I should buy the shubb copy and we can compare them Bob?
Maybe you should bring that Kyser round to my place and I'll get in some Goblin Bitter and we can do a comparison of various capos and post the findings (which will, of course, be rigorous and scientific) to GFSA along with pictures so people can understand the size issues.
I think (think) that there's a difference in sound with the different capos as well. This makes some sense because the G7 is much heavier than the Shubb and thus may damp the neck a little more.
Capos, like many other things, are trade-offs. The thing about the Kyser-type capo is that you can move it around really quickly. I have seen Guy Buttery do a number where he respositions the capo whilst playing. You won't do that with a Shubb. I've a DVD of John Martyn and he gets up to similar tricks on his show-off number - and that was one of the old elastic style capos, so he had to push and pull it along the neck.
