Presumably another April 1 thing (getting a bit tired of them) but I do like the Mustang right at the bottom.

it may well be an April 1 thing.. dont see anything on the fender site.. Thought of that too but you never know with these guys.

I don't think they are losing the plot, they are finally after so many decades picking up on the partscaster thing. Nothing wrong with these guitars except for not having a very distinctive sound of their own, I reckon.

Stratocaster body, fixed bridge and Tele neck? Yes please!!! ?

It's a great strategy for Fender. It's difficult for them to design new guitars with anything like the daring of their '50s and '60s line. But given the kinds of guitars they make, they can just mix up those original guitars. Like I said, the twin hum Mustang looks damn good.

Actually, they could start introducing their own carved top line too!
I have only seen maybe 2 genuine carved top Fenders, 1 was a tele, 1 a strat... both Master-built Custom Shop though :?

Hah. I may be tempted... yes, I may be tempted.

I like the mustang...but yea, never really been a fan of the 51....but I have yet to play one...
Vintage-Vibe
1 or 2 of them play very nicely too, according to Robin of Fender who just returned from Frankfurt - apparently Korean made ?
Great idea I think ... missed the 90's much like their Artist Jazzmasters - but better late than never ?

I think its a pretty cool line of guitars, I would get one..... expecially the mustang

Looks like the Mustang will be their big seller then.
Its the only one I would consider.

They are likely doing this because:
1) Its a recession and they need to find ways to make money
2) So many artists, including Andy Summers I believe, chopped and changed guitar necks on bodies, getting their hands into the so-called Partscaster scheme of things so I suppose its natural for them to finally answer that demand.
