Possible scam on gumtree?

Hey there,
Yesterday I saw a guy selling 4 Goldplated Epiphone Les Paul humbuckers and decided to email him and ask a bit more. After asking him to send me pics of the product and a proof that it say "Epiphone" on them, the guy started defending himself and he refused to send me pics.

Might be a scam.

That ad looks legit - he has a photo of all the things he's selling together and the closeup of the pickups shows the Epi logo stamped in the baseplate. Having said that, the Epi pickups aren't great - generic Asian pickups and most guys usually upgrade them.

I dont know man seems legit, he could just be a offended fellow...

When I sell my Fenders, I post pics, if a intrested party asks for some sort of documentation, or gets a bit awkward with me saying they cant trust me I usually dont deal with them.
I find its pretty obvious when an ad is not real.....

I dunno if that is a scam or not, but I know for SURE that the guy selling the old Gibson J200 is a scam (I did my research). Please be careful when buying on Gumtree. Don't give these damn criminals what they want >☹

I think the add with the Epi pups you mentioned is by AndreM, a fine gentleman and actually a pleasure to do business with. (They're also advertised in our classifieds.) So I'm willing to bet my house it's not a scam ? But still, lot of other chancers out there. Best to do your homework, and do it well mind you, when shopping on GT.

For some reason this redirects to the wrong ad. But AndreM's ad is there, his pickups are definitely legit. And you can find on the first couple of pages of the classifieds.

Yes, there are a lot of scams out there, and we try to look out for them on this forum. Also to spot when it might actually be legit ?
