110V power supplies and the solution!?

I just ordered a mean distortion pedal on EBay - and, Once Again, forgot about the whole US 110V thing..

Darn frustrating!

OK - so how do I go about not blowing up this power supply (or the unit for that matter).

Step Down Transformer? If so where do i get one? Are they super bulky and noisy?

I am going to try and order a power supply, but judging by my last experience with this unit (Ibanez Tube King) It is no easy feat. It is a 12V AC - AC/AC adapter 500mA.

Help would be muchly appreciated!

Step down transformers are not expensive, big and above all not noisy if you only need little bit of power.
In this case I would just make a super simple power supply - AC power only requires stepping down from 240 to your 12V. All that is required between kettle plug and pedal is something like http://za.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=getProduct&R=2786986
I guess the reason that you are having trouble finding one is that it is such a simple thing that no manufacturer thinks there is a market?

+1. Plus you don't have to use an Ibanez branded supply. There are other pedals which use a 12V AC supply, so you should be able to get something suitable from any decent music store.

Although if i got something like that, I would not have a clue what to do with it - Im not at all electronically inclined..

Yeah, Getting a new 12v AC power supply would be ideal - But, as i said I have had previous experience with this pedal - the power supply blew and I spent some weeks searching for a replacement and was never successful...

Gonna go to marshall, TOMS and Music connection tomor for various things so will ask them...
