mrmorrison All, Ever since I saw the youtube video for the Fender Custom Shop Andy Summers Telecaster, I've wanted it. But it's $10k, and I'm not spending that kind of dough on a guitar. So my plan is to buy an Fender American Standard Telecaster and mod the ever-living hell out of it. Here's what I've found so far on the net: - Brass bridge - Schaller Tuner - Mint Green Pickguard - Gibson '57 Classic Plus Humbucker I'm still kind of lost on what preamp/overdrive to use. I found the EMG Afterburner, but I don't know if this will provide the sound I'm looking for. Any ideas? Any input is appreciated!
FenderBender I'm still kind of lost on what preamp/overdrive to use. Just make sure you have a place to sellotape it to the Tele's body ?

nick this video didnt help my longing for a telly ☹ I'll take it in blonde though, but make it sound like that. would be very interested to follow the build of this if you do it.
AlanRatcliffe Y'know it's something I've only recently come to appreciate - a humbucker at the neck and a single-coil at the bridge. I've always preferred single-coil neck sounds and humbucker bridge sounds, but the other way round when the two are both on is a magical combo with just the right amount of bass fullness, balls and top end sparkle. If you want to take it a step further than Andy Summers, look at the Lentz HSL which has that pickup combo, but has individual volumes and a master tone - which gives you an amazingly wide array of good tones from just two pickups.
mrmorrison It's definitely something I'm going to go through with. I'm recording my debut album and want to have my own signature sound for it, so I'm going to be borrowing heavily from Andy Summers and fusing it with my own effects and nuances. ? If anyone has an idea of what the preamp/overdrive might be, that would help a lot!
mrmorrison Ok everyone, it's been over a year and I've been busy! The guitar is being assembled right now and will be done within 2 weeks! Let me just say that this took a lot of research to complete. Pretty much everything on this guitar is custom built, aside from the knobs. I'll have pics for everyone once I get it back! ?
RobK Don't forget to tie it to the back of your car and drag it down the road a bit - for that authentic road worn look ?
