Loopers... they've been discussed here lots before. Just a quick, stupid question:
I want to hook one up to my practice amp for non-serious messing around, i.e. when I'm not in the mood for Reaper and VSTs and all the usual complicated stuff. But my Cube X30 doesn't have an effects loop. If I go guitar->looper->amp, the looping riff and the solo I'm playing over it will be mixed together and turn into a distorted mush once it hits the amp right? (Playing with lotsa gain obviously.)
The Digitech JamMan manual shows that setup as one option, and I guess it can work for ultra clean playing. But for playing with gain you'd have no option but to put the looper in an amp effects loop?
I have a similar problem. What I do is to record the phrase with a clean sound and then feed the output from the looper into the aux input on my amp. I suppose if you had two channels on the amp you could put looper into 1, guitar into the other.
HOWEVER, this is not an approach that lends itself to spontaneity.
Because I'm working on a specific solo over a specific progression at present this arrangement works for me - especially as the looper has a non-volatile memory that stores the phrase when I power everything down.
I have an RC20. That has a volume control so I can drop the level of the phrase that it's playing back.
Another thing I tried was using my tuner to split the signal. So I have one side going to the looper which then feeds the aux input, and the other output from the tuner goes to the regular input and the FX. That means that you play through both sides though - which may not suit what you want.
Think laterally.
