The Challenge April 2011

Renesongs · 2011-03-31T13:07:30+00:00

Emotional Music Following on from PeteM's challenge which was broad enough to encourage lots of entries, I'd like to keep things open-ended enough to encourage plenty of people to record something, but at the same time I'd like to have a slightly more specific goal. The theme for this month is to get some emotional content into your music. So, rather than just sitting and noodling or basing everything around a rigid scale or chord progression, try and get the way you're feeling onto your fretboard. I want to hear raw anger in those power chords, or a broken heart in those arpeggios. Or maybe things are going your way? Express some happiness and light in some chimey major chords! To keep things a bit limited and more challenging, you can choose from the following four rough categories: - Defiant frustration - Wistful longing - Forbidden lust - Cheery mischief Hopefully something about at least one of the above has some resonance with you, so take the core feeling and run with it. Your goal is to make your listener feel what you're feeling, but solely through your music! It can be as complex or simple as you want, but the more emotive the better! PS: don't state which option you've based your entry on, let us listeners try and figure it out. ? Entries must be in by 22 April 2011

Doh, why did I think it was only for the 26th?

Seventhson

Oh damn it all to hell. I stated what level I am >☹

PeteM

Lets just get some clarification please... do ou entries have to be in tonight, or seeing as the 1st post said 22nd, we have tomorrow to do it as well?

Fanks ?

Bob-Dubery

Hokay! Got the 2nd take up. Glad I had the "banker" in place, but this one is better.

A nice thing about box.net is that you can upload a file, get the URL for the share, then load an updated version and keep the same URL.

That's clever.

Got mine in, had a mini disaster when I accidentally wiped out my only good take after meticulously sorting it out with an hour left to submit. Nothing like a bit of pressure ?

So I entered under beginner, forgot to mention in my pm, but the file name does start with a b_ so there we go.

Lol, ok so I got mine in a little earlier than I thought. ?

Oky dokey, mines in. Finally found some time after church this morning to record the ditty I have been playing in the bathroom whilst drawing my baths for the past few weeks. ? Problem is it now sounds nothing like it used to.... :-[
As nice as the Breedlove's pre-amp system is, it just doesn't do the natural sound justice.

Bob-Dubery

Looks like interest in the comps is up. Rene is the major driver here, so hats off to Rene!
