What guitar is that Bob? It's really nice!
Dunno. He seems to change guitars a lot.
I must have spent 2 hours yesterday watching youtube clips of martin simpson, I have decided I MUST get some of his albums, absolutely LOVE his music, such a different vibe!!
There's a pretty good live DVD available -
Prodigal Son. Essentially in three parts. 1st is him live and solo (first half of the live show). Then there's a documentary in which he goes back to his home town and talks a bit about his youth and his father (subject of Simpson's song "Never Any Good"). Then you get the 2nd half of the live show when he brings the band on.
Most of the 2nd half of the show is from his CD also titled
Prodigal Son. I have that one and the follow up. IMO
Prodigal Son is the better disc - more consistent, works better as an album. I don't know his catalog well, and can't offer advice or recommendations beyond that.
I got to see him live in a small venue last year. Fab player and, I found out, very nice guy.
