Got this off Uvongo Dave from gumtree at a bargain price ? Came with original hardcase and a nice leather strap as well as a new set of strings, even though the current strings seem pretty new to me ? Also the guitar plays amazingly as is, so I assume its had a nice setup done. It sounds AMAZING it feels AMAZING, it looks AMAZING! I am soooo glad I bought it, I didnt know guitars got this good! Wow!!! Indoors whole body Outdoors body Outdoors Pickups and Bridge Controls Outdoor Controls Headstock Neck Volute and Tuners Fretboard and Binding

The serial is 700000s which puts it between 1970 and 1972 but it hasn't got tremelo, the stop tailpiece was only offered in 1972 ? And yes 3 piece neck. Definitely a great instrument though ? I love it ? ...oh and singe u were curious about the pickups, the internet tells me they are Bill Lawrence designed super humbuckers, which were supposed to be high output, but by todays standards are really only medium output. What i love is that this guitar shouts classic rock through and through, and the best part is its not like im just getting the sound of classic rock, this guitar is from the same era ? so its an ACTUAL classic rock guitar ?

Exactly. An exhaustive researcher has confirmed that Angus Young's SG that he started off with in AC/DC was not a '68 - which is what my AY signature is based on - but a '70, much more like yours. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if AY has one of those '72s in his possession.

And you didn't even mentioned their prize-winning abomination ? Perhaps it is right that it goes unspoken of.

Kalcium. You should seriously check this out. Gives you some idea of how hard your guitar can rock:

Now I ain't saying it's a 72 (although it looks pretty much identical) but it's within a year or two.

Kalcium

Haha nice!!! His has the pickups selector where my jack goes in though and his jack is on the side, was that something that Gibson did in other years or did he have it modded like that? (Saw the volute in the vid ?)

I'm guessing it's modded.

Awesome! Angus is a lunatic! The SG looks huge on him, he's obviously quite a small guy?

singemonkey

He's minute. And if you see recent vids where he's older, losin' some hair, he's like the Rumplestiltskin of rock. ?

domhatch

Bwaahahahaha! That's freakin hilarious...
