Firstly let me just say that I'm not a serious player, I just play serious music.
Augustine Blues, which I've always hated because of the (for me) low tension
My experience with Augustine Blues: The one thing I've ever won in my life were those strings from the guitar forum competition. I asked for Augustine Blues because I had never used them and thought I'd try them out. So I have a trick when putting on new strings, to stop them from going out of tune so much, of giving them a nice stretch, holding down the bridge of course. I did that with the first Augustine Blues string and snapped it. Ooops, that was the end of me trying them out.
I'm a Pro Arte user, when I can afford it. Yes, there are times when I buy the plain Nylon D'Addario ones. This last recording I did was with the plain nylon ones and they're pretty old to top it off. I'll be putting some Pro Arte on soon and I'll make another recording and compare the strings. Was a bit baffled when I saw this talk of gutlon strings, or something like that. I think the good old nylon does pretty well. I am notoriously bad at replacing my strings though, so perhaps less picky than most people.
