The CIOKS are the best supplies - especially if you are going to use a few power hungry effects like the Eventide or TC Electronic pedals, but difficult to get. Matt Allison is the agent, but has only brought them in once - on a prepaid, group buy arrangement. I swear by mine, it's a beautifully designed and built supply.

Otherwise the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus is the best supply commonly available locally - Marshall Music should have them.

Nope. I phoned them yesterday, and Tristan said that they wont be getting for a couple of months. They do however have the ISO-5

Hope this is not a stupid question. What will happen if I power a Tonebone Hot British with an 18Volt DC power supply instead of 15Volt DC, as printed on the pedal?

Will it make that much of a difference? What's in a few volts?

Maybe Matta can shed some light?

No problem with the voltage, but the current is more important and the 'bone requires a 400mA supply (probably around 350mA actual current draw), while the SKB outputs are all limited to 100mA max.

Excellent observation Alan! I didn't even see that it's only 100mA. Then I'll just have to hide the existing Tonebone power supply somewhere on the pedal board and I'll probably end up building the thing myself - Urgh! What a mission!

What is the amperage of standard Boss type pedals? Less than 100mA?

Do we have good prefab pedalboards available locally?

Yes. Unless its the twin pedals. Most boss pedals range between 2.5mA to 70mA (for the more delay kind of effects).

Don't know if you're reading this correctly. We were talking about the power consumption (in millivolts) of Boss pedals in general. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you're refering to delay times, which are usually in milliseconds.

Alan, since we're talking about powerful power supplies and TC Electronic, do you know if the CIOKS can power a Nova System?
(I have no idea how much current the Nova System draws though)

I'm under the assumption you were referring to the amperage draw of the pedals.

My post was meant to indicate that the more delay like the effect, the more mA it will draw. Something like a distortion will use very little amperage (mA) draw.

I'm eyeing this "prefab" pedalboard by SKB. Looks so pro! Obviously comes without pedals.

Wonder if They're available locally?

I have not seen such pedal boards around, I know Behringer has one, but there is some debate about that board. Would a normal board without the power and other devices suffice? I have a friend that makes them

I'm just looking at alternative options of building a new pedalboard without having all the pedals daisy-chained in a long line. This tends to have a negative effect on tone at the end of the chain and even with true bypass it's not ideal.

I've also been thinking about building a manual foot controller that will bring only the pedals that are being used into the signal path, leaving the other 7 completely out of the signal chain. To this end I found the GigRig range of pedal/amp switchers. They come in various sizes depending on how many things you want to switch. Here's a demo of the larger GigRig Pro-14 - Nice hey!

Done properly, a Pedaltrain is even neater. The power supply goes underneath the board and all the cabling is hidden away.

You can add the switcher of your choice too:

Ummm... The Nova System runs of mains... So the answer would have to be "no". ?

But if you meant can it run the Nova Pedals, then yes - The DC10 can run up to three TC or Eventide pedals while the TC10 (there's a hint in the name there) can run four or five IIRC. That's why I bought a CIOKS.

Now THIS looks like the thing! Fully integrated power supply and very neat! Hmmmm! Do you perhaps have specs on the power supply? DC Voltage outputs?

And I can never find patch leads with small enough 90degree jacks to make the thing more compact!

The Pedaltrain comes without PSU, but are made so most popular PSUs attach easily (especially the Voodoo Labs PP2). Also they are available with either a gig bag or a flight case, and they even sell a "boosters" for raising small pedals up higher. So, real pro stuff...

I followed the link! It's so simple and got me thinking - I can build something like this myself within a few hours, even from aluminium, which I already have. The velcro I can buy from that leather/materials wholesalers in Maitland. Slap a Voodoo Labs PP2 and the Tonebone PSU underneath and away you go. . . . . . . . or maybe just buy one and be done with it! ?

I wonder whether it's made from mild steel or not? If it is I'll just get someone in Montague Gardens to make it and black exopy it. I'm going to find out and I'll let you know. If its cheap enough I'll have 2 made. ?

I mean, how difficult can it be to make something similar to this?
