so you have seen Steve Morse and Joe Satriani live(lucky bugger ?)
How did Satriani keep you entertained for nearly 3 hours? Does he go acoustic? Chat to the crowd etc. 3 hours is hectically long

Evenescence. Excellent show, pity it was open, and a icy cold day with strong winds.

As symboloflife or whatever says, indoor, but the Uriah Heap Deep Purple at the Dome rocked!

Thanks ? I was definitely lucky.
As for Satriani, yes 3 hours is long for a guitar only concert. He didn't go acoustic at all. He did chat to the crowd though and did a pretty good job of building rapport. He played material all the way from (1st album) "Not of this earth" to "Is there love in Space" and didn't lose the crowd at any point, which says a lot IMO.
Steve Morse, as well, just looks so happy on stage and he's got such a great vibe as a person that it kind of spreads to the crowd.

I've been to a few awesome indoor concerts (Remember Shakti w/ John McLaughlin being one of them), but those don't qualify for this thread

Without a doubt, the best in terms of sound quality, entertainment, absolute awesome Rock and just pure spectacle it has to be:

1. Rolling Stones "Voodoo Lounge Tour, '95" Live @ Ellis Park Stadium

and a close second would definitely be:

2. U2 "360 degree" 2011 @ FNB Soccer City, Johannesburg

Uriah Heep and Wishbone Ash had their sound together, but I did not go there to see them, I went for Deep Purple, whose sound was pathetic!!!
Had it not been for Steve Morse, who was awesome and I could hear everything he did, I would have left the show after the first three songs!

The Bassline's Jazz Fest at Emmarentia in Joburg, 2003 (not 'rock' technically, but hey...) was awesome. Line up included Terence Blanchard (trumpet), Carlo Mombelli & The Prisoners of Strange, The Jazz Pistols, Andile Yenana, Marcus Wyatt and others. Blanchard was amazing, but Mombelli stole the show, as he tends to do!

The annual Table Mountain Blues Summit at Bloemendal is also absolutely awesome! (Last year I was within panty-throwing distance of Dan and Albert, which was just epic!)

Tied for first prize though has to be the Dirty Skirts @ Kirstenbosch, and Azania at the CT Fanfest on the parade - mainly cos I got to play on stage for both! (That K'Bosch crowd looks HUGE from the stage!) Woot! Good times ?

Also got in free after winning a competition. And then still was given free Golden Circle tickets by a roadie outside the venue!
