you answered my next question,
I know its been mentioned in previous threads but is EZdrummer freeware?
I've been using Cubase with the Groove Agent drumming software, but I'm looking for something thats a bit more organic? would you recommend that?
It's not freeware, but it's certainly very good. It's not insanely expensive at somewhere around £80.
It has lots of little loops and fills that you can drag and drop into your DAW, and loads of variations for each groove with different sorts of cymbal / hi-hat / snare sounds etc. so you can add a lot of authentic drumming subtlety to your track.
There are also lots of expansion kits / loop sets you can download for it as you go along. There's a jazz kit, a vintage rock kit etc. They're a bit less expensive than the original software, but still very well priced IMO.
It also has some nice features like a "humanise" option which slightly varies the velocity and tone of each drum sound to create a more organic feel.
Definitely a +1 from me, and I know some other dudes here use it.
