Tele help please.

I want to modify one of my Teles to an HH configuration with a 5way switch for more options and an alternative sound. For the bridge pickup I am thinking either a SD hotrail or a stacked pup. The problem is the neck. I want to fit a fender widerange bucker, but they have 4 fitting screws and not two like normal buckers. This means a normal humbucker pickguard is useless. So my options seem to be to either get an esquire type pickguard and cut the cavity myself (which I am guaranteed to stuff up), or to take a normal hb pickguard and drill my own holes, and then somehow cover up the unused screwholes. (Dummy screws maybe?) Is there an easier way to do this? Or does anybody know where I can buy one that will work? Any suggestions are welcome.

the fender full range humbuckers are much bigger and you will have to do some work on the body and pickguard to get them to fit. for what? another muddy neck pickup?

Aaah crap. Are they bigger than standard as well !?!? Not worth it then, is it. I previously had a look at the gfs pickguards, but not their pups. Those just might work hey.... Thanks.

If you were thinking of fitting the reissue Fender Wide Range pickups, don't bother - under the covers they are normal humbuckers (and not good ones at that), so you might as well get a normal sized bucker and have the choice of a huge range of pickups.

If you really want the real Wide Range pickups, you must either shell out $400 - 500 for the real vintage models or get a set of Lollars (which are the closest thing to the real wide range pickups, and a very cool ). Details and clips here

BTW, is your Tele body routed for a neck humbucker?

No, I'm not really looking for that specific sound, so spending big bucks on an original or a set of Lollars is out. I have one tele in std configuration which is perfect to me as is, so I am just looking for something different in the other tele. The main reason the widerange buckers appealed to me is the Fender engraving on the casing to be honest. (Ja, I know, I know....?but looks are also important hey ) It's another mim standard, so it has a humbucker neck route. But the sc size buckers are looking good at the moment....
