the adaptor that came with it was from the US. So it needs something called a "step down transformer" ???. Now where would I get something like that? And how much would it cost? & what does the transformer look like?
Yes. You will need a Step Down Transformer. They are not expensive at all. I paid R110 for mine, but I was desperate and in a hurry, you can get them much cheaper. In a nutshell (and really this is a simple definition) is that it takes the 220v that SA electricty is pumping out, and converts it to the 110v that the Pedal is used to. If you had to directly feed 220v to the pedal it would go kaboom!.
Go to an electronic store, heck Im sure even the handy man can help you out, and ask for a step down transformer. They are quite big, like a small brick really, you will see an input for where you can plug your funny looking american plug. They come in many shapes and sizes so its hard for me to give you exact details. Just ask the guy at the counter and make sure the item says Step Down, has the values 220v/110v (cause you want to convert 220 to 110) and also the wattage should be about 50 I'd say to be safe.
