Time to choose

Well almost - as soon as they get here from the States.

In my quest for a multi effects pedal I turned to eBay and put in two hopeful bids on two pedals (previous similar bids had been well and truly outbid) so I didnt have much hope. But you guessed it... I won them both:

A Digitech RP-350

And a Zoom GFX-5

Now I'll obviously have to thoroughly road test them once they arrive and see what works best for me, but do you guys have any opinions on them? And Digitech, is it a decent make or the equivalent to a Korg/Zoom etc?

Hmmm, you don't make things easy do you?

I've played on the zoom GFX-5 and in all honesty was a bit overwelmed with all the features, that's why I bought a ZOOM 505II, plus I could always add stuff to it, I was actually still overwelmed........lol.

You so should of bought my 505..........

I've used various digitech products, RP-500 and the Whammy and I like their build quality, they also have a good reputation. I liked the RP500, it was pretty user friendly, I just couldn't justify the price.

The Zoom GFX5 will be the more hardy unit. It is in a steel casing, not plastic like most other Zoom units.

I have been impressed by the Digitech units as well.

Keep both of them for awhile Giggsy.

I use my Line6 but am keeping my Zoom as a backup

Thanks Squonk and FFF for your input. Yeah, I'd like to, the budget may be a problem though as I have already spent more than twice as much as I had intended! What I like about the Digitech is that it seems a lot more 'compatible', if thats the word, with technology - there are hundreds of user made patches which can be downloaded and added to the pedal.

I'll be placing a bet on you keeping the Zoom for one reason only, it's got more control buttons and that makes a big difference in terms of practical application, especially live. In the manual mode it seems you have a dedicated TAP Tempo button which would work magically with any rythmic kind of delay settings if you are into that on stage.

Got the Zoom an hour ago, and as I'm basically just watching the cricket anyways, I gave it a quick whirl.

So far, so good - I think I might have to do the unthinkable and read the manual, as most of the time I was just bypassing the signal! But the effects that I did get to hear were pretty good, the wah pedal is cool, the drum patterns are better than I thought and the existing patched can be manipulated a lot to get the right sound.

But, as luck would have it, I'm going to a stupid work function tonight (why could I not have got it yesterday and instead of spending time with my friends at the pub, I could have brushed them off and got to know a new friend >☹
