make-and-do
(Okay so I'm suffering from friday attention span deficit.)
Was wondering if anybody else here is into Wes Anderson movies? (and Noah Baumbach for that matter)
Watched Life Aquatic again (for the 20th time) last night. I have his whole catalogue.
What an awesomely funny movie....love the visual aesthetics to all his movies.
Always very detailed (some would say contrived) art direction. And all his movies get funnier the more you watch it. Lots of detail
and script subtleties. Gotta love Bill Murray. Funny guy.
"Some say Elanor Zissou is the brains behind Team Zissou, what part of Team Zissou are you, Steve?"
"The Zissou"
?
ps: for those of you with kids (and those sans) - you HAVE to get them Anderson's 'The Fantastic Mr Fox', awesome start-stop-motion film
adaptation of Roald Dahl's book.
Jack-Flash-Jr
Love The Royal Tenenbaums and The Darjeeling Limited... he's an artist.
I liked Greenberg but I don't think Baumbach has the touch when he's on his own...

Was about to come up with Flash's first line almost verbatim. Tenenbaums knocked me out. Darjeeling limited was just wonderful. The Life Aquatic is just too good.
make-and-do
Royal Tenenbaums used to be my favourite, but then the more I watched Life Aquatic, the more it grew on me.
Darjeeling LTD was perfect - very mature compared to the rest of his movies.
I really enjoyed Greenberg (especially the house party scene) - I guess on some level it ringed with me.
Lots of truth in there for people who are in their 30's.
Baumbach is a bit more serious on his own I think.
Still I enjoyed Squid & The Whale and Margot at the Wedding as well.
"Youth is wasted on the young, I'll take it a step further, life is wasted on people" Greenberg, hahahha
I like it when known comedy actors are cast in serious dramatic roles, ends up being their best performances imo.
Jim Carrey - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Man On the Moon
Jack Black - Margot at the Wedding
Adam Sandler - Punchdrunk Love (I usually can't stand him)
Bill Murray - Lost In Translation

I'm not supposed to let artists' lives interfere with how I feel about their work, but Jim Carrey's anti-vaccination stance makes me want to throttle him.
