LUBRICATION

If there is ONE major tip i can give to beginners, and "maybe" even to the pro's...it's LUBRICATION! I've noticed over the years that a lot of people can't get their Electric Guitar's "tuned" in properly. I even bought those special "slippery" (can't remember the name) saddles as well as nuts, but still had the occasional "out-of-tune" experience. There were times i thought i had a f-ed up guitar, then i found my solution...Lubricate your saddles AND nut, and don't be surprised if ALL failures seems to have "disappeared". I use a special type of lube called WinFlon...it's made of PTFE (Polytetraflouroethylene) and brother, after using THIS stuff, the guitar stays in tune no matter HOW hard you "Whammy" it. Always "lube" just before a session, or at least twice a week (depends on preference)...you just need to clean it after lubrication with a bit of tissue or toilet paper or the like. I usely dont take off ALL the lube...i just "dwab" it a little with toilet paper ?

Hmm, wasn't NS Gareth, it was Fret Doctor fingerboard oil (the real stuff) from www.beafifer.com.

Chad - get powdered graphite powder like Just-a-Puff for those knife edges.

I got my nutsauce from StewMac. Alternatively you can scrape the tip of a pencil with a blade and then mix the powder with a bit of vaseline and apply a small amount to your nut slots.

Ah I was mistaken, I bought this as well, not the nut sauce.

Some years ago Mrs X-rated and I flew from Lisbon to Barcelona. Well... we did, but our baggage didn't. So I had to forget about that nice guitar I'd seen in Lewes, and worry about more mundane things such as toiletry and ....ahem... underwear.

I went to some recommended store and, with the assistance of a friend who speaks Spanish, bought a four-pack of the usual items in the usual size. The next day I'm walking around Barcelona feeling.... a bit crowded. So I thought "hmmm.... maybe they put the labels in the front here."

So I tried a pair the other way around the next day. No difference.
